An app optimizing Team Transitions & Communication

Overview

A custom-built PowerApps solution enabling department managers to track and manage their team members’ information, including onboarding and offboarding processes.

My role included creating a user interface that enables easy navigation, collecting and managing data and developing the app on Microsoft PowerApps. I designed wireframes and a prototype before releasing the final version.

Problem Statement

Managers faced difficulties in keeping track of employee roles, skills, locations, and communication details. Team transitions were frequent, leading to inefficiencies in managing these changes.

Solution

Designed and built an application from scratch using PowerApps.
Enabled managers to view their team members’ profiles, including skills, projects, and locations.
Integrated onboarding and offboarding tracking to ensure seamless transitions.
Added email functionality for quick communication within teams.

The design focused on:

Wireframes & Design Process

To ensure the application met the needs of department managers, the design process started with user research, gathering insights on pain points and workflow requirements. Based on these findings, initial wireframes were created to define the core structure and functionalities. After iterative testing and feedback sessions, the wireframes evolved into high-fidelity prototypes, refining the user experience with intuitive navigation and structured data visualization.

Key Takeaways

Through user research, I gained valuable insights into the managers’ workflow challenges, allowing me to design a solution that directly addressed their needs. Developing the application from scratch strengthened my ability to translate complex requirements into an intuitive digital experience. By streamlining navigation and simplifying the interface, I improved usability and reduced the time spent on administrative tasks.
